Some volunteers like it (very) hot!

It's heatwave time and naturally CMP volunteers (many of whom had stayed up all night watching England's latest World Cup adventures) headed for the coast to enjoy a cooling sea breeze whilst helping to clean up the beaches at Hayling Island. Oh yes... and of course to enjoy the occasional ice cream!

Around 120 people, litter pickers in hand, participated in the year's annual Beach Clean, the fourth such event. During the day, this small army of happy volunteers managed to clear over 85kg of rubbish (so many socks!) including micro-plastics which do so much damage to the ecosystem.

Fifteen CMP Member companies were represented on this lovely summer's day:

Asahi Amazon Filters BMW Group (UK) Butt Miller

Cre8tive Space Energi People HR Dept JAE

Perfect Balance Siemens Healthineers TecnaUK UK Connect Up&Away Detailing

The hard graft concluded with the now traditional fish'n'chips plus welcome cool drinks courtesy of those wonderful people from Asahi. And, for the first time in the short history of this superb volunteering activity, a refreshing dip in the shimmering Solent. What a way to end the day!

'This was my first volunteer day and it was brilliant', said one hot but very enthusiastic volunteer. 'Really well organised by Rachel and the CMP crew. Everything was just there for us to turn up and enjoy clearing the beach.'

Another smiling participant added:

'So much rubbish taken off the beach. It was great to be involved here, doing this with my team. We all had SUCH fun!

Which is just as we like it at CMP. See you next year!
