So proud to work with Yateley Industries

Last week saw the latest development of our partnership with Yateley Industries. CMP volunteers have been heavily involved at the charity's Mill Lane site since 2021, undertaking a range of invaluable, smaller scale projects, but this is the first time we've managed a large scale Annual Volunteering Day at the site. And what a wonderful day it turned out to be!

Yateley Industries was founded in 1937, offering on-site accessible accommodation and supported care alongside meaningful employment and training in the workshop and factory. Around 80 volunteers from 15 Member companies arrived on a chilly, damp March day, ready and willing - rakes, secateurs, gloves, paint brushes in hand! - to do whatever was needed to help get the three acre site ready for spring.

A massive thanks to the following Member companies whose volunteer angels made such a difference. Take a bow:

  • Alphabet Amazon Filters The Aviator Hotel BMW Group UK

  • Cre8tive Space Farnborough Airport Leapfrog Internet Marketing

  • MAPP Siemens Healthineers Signwrite Studios Source Supplies

  • Talk Technology Tecna UK The Village Hotel 360 Mortgages

It was a day of smiles - and back aches, especially those plucky few who tackled the challenge of the formidable bund (whatever it is and whatever lies beneath it!)...

Mark Wilson from CMP Members 360 Mortgages said about the day: 'Volunteering has got me out of the office, doing something to give back. It's a real feelgood factor with really nice people. Love it!'

Indeed - sentiments fully appreciated by the residents one of whom (Rachel), who is wheelchair user, was so happy that 'the lovely people' had cut back the bindweed which was impossible for her to reach and which was spoiling her garden.

And no-one who witnessed it will ever forget the gleeful ingenuity of the Alphabet team as 'Dom' the scarecrow emerged like a demented (but very friendly) Frankenstein's monster from the new café!

Sarah Beckwith, chair of Trustees at Yateley Industries, unveiled a plaque to mark this day and to celebrate the link with CMP:

'This is a fantastic partnership.

Thanks to the thousands of volunteering hours facilitated by CMP we have been able to transform the estate both inside and outside.

It's made a phenomenal difference, enabling us to welcome the wider community in to experience the magical community we have here at Yateley Industries. We are so grateful for CMP.'

Enjoy these pictures of a wonderful team effort - human generosity at its best.
