Around the world in aid of charity
Students studying at Farnborough College of Technology organised and ran an 'around the world' raffle.
The prize a very smart hamper of champagne and chocolates which had been donated to the College was used to entice parents and staff to take part.
The students were keen to do something for a local charity and the Vine Day Centre in Aldershot was chosen because of the links the College already has in supporting the important work the charity does in the community through CMP.
Students created a raffle that asked people to choose a flag of a country, the winning flag was drawn from a hat. The college invited Susie Porter, Manager from the Vine Day Centre to come along and accept a cheque for the they amount raised.
Before taking the cheque Susie explained to the students that the Vine Centre offered a very valuable service to vulnerable people - and every little bit raised made a big difference to people's lives.
She thanked the students for the cheques and said " we are always delighted when young people put together an idea that benefits others"
The students, on a business course, reported that they had enjoyed the challenge, they had discussed how important it was to co-ordinate the event to maximise the collection and how an activity like this can help people within their own community.
